TrainingHub

Your Development Platform in The Adaptive Mind

Your growth

starts here

The TrainingHub is the central platform for your development as an PhD student or Postdoc within The Adaptive Mind. It brings together scientific training, career development, and international exchange to support you in becoming an independent, interdisciplinary researcher.

New to TAM

Starting at a new institution — and perhaps in a new country — comes with a lot of questions. The TAM Navigator guides you through everything you need to know before you arrive, during your first weeks, and as you settle in. From visa and housing to your first contacts within the cluster: we’ve got you covered.

Career & Skills Development

Career and skills development at TAM builds on the strong graduate school infrastructures at each partner institution. Find your local graduate school below — they offer qualification programmes, transferable skills courses and support structures that complement TAM-specific training.

Get Funding

TAM offers dedicated funding instruments at every career stage — designed to foster your scientific independence, support collaborative projects, and enable international mobility.

Treasure Box

Annual call for short interdisciplinary research grant proposals within TAM. Up to €5,000 per project, 4 projects per year — open to doctoral researchers.

Yearly funding for research independence projects (6–12 months). Up to €10,000 per project, 4 projects per year — for postdocs pursuing interdisciplinary, collaborative approaches.

Outgoing: Visits and exchange

TAM ECRs at all career stages can apply for research secondments at partner labs worldwide — to acquire new scientific skills, build intercultural competencies, and expand their network.

Funding: Travel costs and living expenses for up to 6 months (€50K/p.a. programme budget). Applications via the annual TAM funding call. ECRs from low- and middle-income countries receive additional consideration through dedicated EDI grants.

Incoming: Visit us

TAM actively hosts international researchers for research stays and training at our partner institutions. Visiting scholars are supported by the TrainingHub, International Offices and Welcome Centers at each site, including a buddy system for social integration.

Funding: Covered through the TAM Visits & Exchange budget. Specific intramural programmes are available for ECRs from LMICs.

Organise an event

At TAM, ECRs don’t just attend events — they shape them. The TrainingHub supports you in hosting speakers and proposing your own workshops and symposia, with logistical and financial backing from the coordination office.

Host a Speaker

TAM’s bi-weekly colloquia are hosted by ECRs. You can propose and invite world-leading scientists to present their work — the TrainingHub coordination office provides logistical support. Colloquia are streamed and posted online to maximise their reach across the cluster and beyond.

Propose a Workshop or Symposium

Have an idea for a thematic workshop or interdisciplinary symposium? TAM actively encourages ECRs to propose and organise scientific events. Yearly symposia and workshops — featuring a mix of up-and-coming and senior international speakers — are organised by ECRs with support from the TrainingHub. Funding is available through the TAM networking budget (YoungPro: €20K/p.a.).
